Hangover helper: Bender’s boozy brunch debuts Sunday

To the disappointment of many, though apparently not the fire department,  Bender’s Bar and Grill, at 19th and South Van Ness, recently ended a decade-long run of serving up free burgers on its back patio on Sundays. Weekend patrons won’t go hungry for long, though. This Sunday marks the debut of “Bartender’s Breakfast,” the new brunch menu from the bar’s kitchen, Counter Offer.

With every ending comes a new beginning. After having to say goodbye to the over 10 year tradition of free burgers on the patio every Sunday, we’re starting something different, and the kitchen will be opening with a limited menu Sunday Afternoons for something they’re calling “Bartender’s Breakfast.”

At the moment the hours will be from 2pm-5pm, but based on demand, they may go later to feed your need…

Counter Offer’s owner/chef Jake Ersland gave me a sample menu (the real deal won’t be revealed until Sunday and I’m told it will evolve). It features some tasty looking new takes on breakfast classics. Hello, box of bacon!
