Meeting tonight will focus on Mission Street’s red transit lanes

Love or hate them, you’ll get a chance to weigh in on Mission Street’s new ‘red carpet’ lanes tonight.
The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency, in conjunction with Supervisor David Campos’ office, is hosting a community meeting at 6 p.m. to get feedback on the transit-only lanes.
The lanes, on Mission between 14th and 30th streets, have cut down the number of accidents and helped speed up Muni buses, according to the SFMTA. But, some area merchants say they have affected business. Drivers have also complained about the lanes, and some have seemed content to ignore them altogether.
Campos has been critical of the program, outlining his concerns in a March Facebook post.
In a prepared statement last week, he took a bit softer tone.
“I wholeheartedly support the goal of improving Muni reliability and speed, I want to make sure that the project works for everyone and takes into account the unique aspects of the Mission,” he said.
Tonight’s meet will take place at the Mission Cultural Center, 2686 Mission St.
