Complaints bubbling up at former Fizzary spot, records show
October 29, 2015
An alleged gambling den, the former site of The Fizzary soda shop has been a hotbed for complaints since the beginning of September, police dispatch records show.
In a period of just more than a month, between Sept. 3 and Oct. 19, there have been 20 police calls to 2949 Mission St. in addition to a shooting that neighbors confirmed occurred there early on the morning of Oct. 17. Police did not disclose the exact location in reports to the media but said someone fired shots on the 2900 block of Mission Street, one of which traveled through the door of an illegal gambling establishment and struck a 25-year-old person inside. Police described the victim as a man but one witness said it was, in fact, a woman.
Most of the calls, laid out in a timeline below, were early in the morning for noise complaints, although there have also been reports of robberies and an assault associated with that address. A source told Capp Street Crap that police executed a search warrant at the business several days ago. Even so, the complaints appear to be continuing. According to the San Francisco Police Department’s CrimeMAPS website, there have been four additional early-morning noise complaints on that block – on Oct. 21 and 22 and twice on Oct. 25.
