Salads at Linea to go

Linea Caffe’s literal salad days will soon be over.

Come November, the cafe at 18th and San Carlos streets will no longer be serving salads and sandwiches, a change that founder Andrew Barnett said will allow Linea to put a greater focus on coffee.

In a note posted in Linea’s front window, Barnett said it had been a “honor” serving as an incubator for GreenSalads.org but that its final day there would be Oct. 31. Opened a little over two years ago, Linea’s coffee bar shares space with GreenSalads.org and the Belgian waffle operation Lt. Waffle, both brainchildren of Mission Chinese Food’s Anthony Myint.

In his note, Barnett said Linea is looking to expand its coffee program. He elaborated a bit in a subsequent email to Capp Street Crap:

We’re working on a few ideas. Nothing set just yet. Linea is a coffee roasting company. From the get-go my intent was on showcasing stellar coffees from the world’s most quality focused coffee farmers. Excited to share more of those amazing coffees+  flavors with our local Mission District community.

Barnett said there are no plans to replace GreenSalads.org or introduce any new lunch offerings though he didn’t rule out the possibility in the future. Lt. Waffle will continue to operate in the space.
