Cops on Capp

Sure, Capp Street is known for drinkers, hookers and all around weird shit but have you ever wondered what really happens on the street in any given month? I put in a records request to the San Francisco Department of Emergency Management for all the police calls* to Capp Street their dispatchers handled in September and set out to map and humorously illustrate them.

To be fair, it was ridiculous time suck. But it was interesting too. Sad, but not surprising, most of the calls were about the homeless. But there were very few complaints about drunks and prostitutes unless, of course, prostitutes fall into the category of “suspicious persons.” Because apparently there are A LOT of suspicious people on Capp.

*A handful of the police calls had to be left off because the Department of Emergency Management had not yet responded to me to verify the types of incidents. I’ll be updating it if they do.
